I’m back: but where have I been?
September 18 2008, 11:55am
As some of you may have noticed I have been on a little hiatus the last month. But just because I haven’t been writing here doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy. Here’s some of the things which have occupied my time:
Keeping it real Being a facilitator for the AALL CS-SIS Web 2.0 Challenge This was very interesting and a lot of fun. At times I felt like I wasn’t devoting enough time to it. But the group that I was assigned to was great. The weekly chats were very lively and interesting and everyone thanked me and seemed to get a lot out of the project. Teaching a web design class for library grad students My alma mater Emporia State University SLIM asked me to teach a course in web design and development for MLS students here in Portland. Part of the class is online and there are two weekend-intensive courses. I had originally thought I would be able to blog a little more about this, but it has proved more time consuming than I originally aniticpated. Hopefully when things slow down I can talk more about this. Moving a law library Yes, our library has moved to another floor and we’ve had to move about 80,000 lbs. of books. Every time we’ve mentioned moving the library to other librarians we’ve received some sad and reassuring looks, like they were saying “you’ll get through it.” I knew it would be hard work, but didn’t really get what all the glum was about. Now I can say I get it. And when another librarian mentions moving their library I will be able to give them a reassuring look and say, “you’ll get through it.” The disruptive force of the move can’t really be understated. The good news is I have a window with a very nice view. I’ll post pictures soon. Installing Sweetcron Sweetcron is an awesome new tool which allows you to host your own lifestream. I’ve been waiting for something like this for a long time. As some of you may have noticed the web address for this blog is http://www.jasoneiseman.com/blog, which seams reasonable. But why not just http://www.jasoneiseman.com. The answer is because I’ve been trying to find a nice way to incorporate some different online identities and interests into a single portal at http://www.jasoneiseman.com. Sweetcrom may be the missing ingredient. I’ve downloaded and installed it and it’s functioning right now at http://www.jasoneiseman.com. Because I’ve only been twittering recently those are the only entries that show up, but it is successfully pulling feeds from all my various online activities. I also need to customize it, just as I need to customize my blog (more on that at a later time), but the potential here is enormous.
Needless to say I’ve been busy. Am I overextended? No. I would say I’m very busy, but within normal limits. But as things slow done in other areas of my work-career-life you should be hearing more from me on this blog.
